Key points
- Includes most of the DLCs from the console version

- SFX, voice overs, and music are slightly higher in audio quality compared to the console versions.
- Unfavorable to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions in areas such as:

- Alpha channel textures of objects are not considered when shadows are casted.[1][2][3]
- Broken surround sound outside 2 or 6 channels
- No Controller vibration.
- Rain translucency is broken
- Certain DLCs are not available out of the box on PC

Essential improvements
- Mod that fixes low framerates on capable machines, and uncaps framerates. How this works:
- Removes aggressive frame pacer (proper triple buffer implementation).
- Disables constant checks for input devices.
- Uncaps framerate, also properly utilizes the display's refresh rate.
- Fixes the slowdown when 2D elements are drawn in the HUD
- Fixes missing text on enemy scans.
- Enables vibration support.
- Works around the screen glitches when using 2560x1440 resolution
- This fix is NOT compatible with GeDoSaTo
- Required for fixing the constant crashes.
or
- If you do not want to use the Large address aware patch, you can use this instead
- This restores and unlocks all DLC normally unavailable in-game due to copyright and licensing issues.
Decompress the contents of the archive into your Final Fantasy XIII-2 Alba directory and run the .bat file.
|
- This patch breaks the game. (in any order it is installed.) It gets stuck on "Square Enix" Loading screen. (Tested with and without 4GB patch.)
(All other patches included here works in the order they are published.) Wait for a update/fix.
- The PC version's rain has broken translucency which is due to Square Enix adding an unnecessary additional alpha texture for the PC port. This mod replaces the texture file entirely with a higher resolution texture from the PS3 version.
The .bat file at the above link doesn't work correctly anymore due to a tiny error in the script.
|
- Download the fixed file from here
- Decompress the contents of the archive into your Final Fantasy XIII-2 Alba directory and run the .bat file.
|
- This mod improves the quality of some of the textures ingame as well as increase the polygons of the character models making them look better
- This mod adds in higher quality audio from the ps3 version for the PC version's pre rendered cutscenes

Issues fixed
Constant crashes throughout the game
- The game can crash at multiple points due to the game's internal memory usage exceeding 2gb and while saving.
Inconsistent 60 FPS
- The section on this issue for Final Fantasy XIII applies to this game as well. This game further complicates this issue with additional post-processing effects and framepacer, which locks the framerate to 30 most of the time.
Use FF13Fix to improve the frame rate
|
In the GPU control panel, set the power management mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. This is required even if you are not using FF13Fix. Set triple buffering to "On" as well.
|
or
Turn off the mini-map in-game
|
The mini-map can drop the frame rate up to 10-20FPS depending on the area in game. You can toggle the mini-map off in-game to improve the performance.
|
Shadow rendering and resolutions
- See the corresponding section in Final Fantasy XIII.
Broken surround sound
- This issue occurs when not in stereo (2 channels) or 6 channel mode due to the game incorrectly filling audio buffers, causing buzzing audio and incorrect voice positioning.[7][8]
Doing any of the following steps can fix the issue
- Set your sound card to use stereo (2 channels) or 6 channel modes[9]
- If you are running Windows 10, set the FFXiii2Launcher.exe compatibility to Windows 8. If you are running an version older than Windows 10, then set the compatibility to Windows 7 or Windows Vista. This compatibility step doesn't work with the current version of the FF13Fix
|
Audio volume is low
- The game has a low volume level that is about half as loud as a typical game and there are no in-game volume options. The only thing a player can do to mitigate this is to increase their speaker volume.
Rain appears as white lines
- The translucency of rain is lower and looks like white lines, much worse than the console versions.
Game uses incorrect refresh rate
- By default the game forces a 60 Hz refresh rate in full screen mode.
Override refresh rate set by game[10]
|
- Download the latest release of FF13Fix.
- Copy
d3d9.dll and FF13Fix.ini to <path-to-game>\alba_data\prog\win\bin .
Notes
- The game will now use the same refresh rate selected in Windows.
- You can edit
FF13Fix.ini to specify a custom refresh rate.
|
Character runs off screen in opening battle
- There is a game-breaking bug where the character can run off screen in the first battle, rendering the current game unplayable. Restart the game to try again.
Fullscreen mode doesn't work
- See the corresponding section in Final Fantasy XIII.
Pixelated screen bug when using 2560x1440 resolution
- See the corresponding section in Final Fantasy XIII.
Launcher doesn't launch
- See the corresponding section in Final Fantasy XIII.
Controller vibration doesn't work
- See the corresponding section in Final Fantasy XIII.
Mouse cursor stays on screen
- See the corresponding section in Final Fantasy XIII.

Issues Unresolved
Incorrect Shadow calculation for models with alpha channel
- On Console versions, whatever model shape that the alpha channel has created is taken into account when shadows are cast. In the PC version, the model shape generated by the alpha channel is not considered for shadow calculation and instead the model shape without the alpha channel is taken into account and shadows of that are cast.[11]
Additional mods
- Removes the incandescent glow effect from recruited monsters.
- Adds new monsters as random encounters and Mog Throw rewards along with a few fixes. Each new monster comes included with its own unique moveset and Feral Link.
- Requires the Console Content Patch to be installed.
The mod linked above is an older version and doesn't work properly
|
- Download the newer version of the mod from here
- Decompress the contents of the archive into your Final Fantasy XIII-2 Alba directory and run the .bat file.
