Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is part of the Resident Evil series and a remake of the original 2005 game of the same name, chronologically takes place six years after the Racoon City's destruction as depicted in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

The game was announced at the State of Play in June 2022 and released on March 24, 2023. A demo version of Resident Evil 4 was announced at the Resident Evil Showcase on March 9, 2023.

The Mercenaries mode was added as a free DLC through a post-launch update on April 7, 2023 along with various bug fixes.

This game does not feature native implementations for DLSS and XeSS, and users with capable hardware may be interested in utilizing other technologies.

Download the latest version of the mod. Follow this guide. Notes It is necessary to download the REFramework (Upscaler Beta) for this to work. The vanilla version does not work with upscaling yet.

Issues unresolved

Traversal-related stutters

The game suffers from some minor CPU-load related hitching issues during traversal at specific points in the world where data is being loaded.
More powerful CPUs will show a less intense stutter.

Frame rate-related quirks

Some physics are tied to the frame rate, which mainly concerns speed running tactics. 120 FPS causes more waves to appear during the Del Lago fight.
30 FPS makes grenades have bigger explosions/do more damage, while also making it easier to phase through knights' hitboxes.

Issues fixed

Crashes during gameplay (Fatal D3D Error)

This Fatal D3D Error crash is believed to be VRAM-related; the game crashing when running out of VRAM instead of using system RAM in that case.
However, according to some reports, these crashes can occur even on high-end GPUs such as the RTX 4090, which realistically should not suffer from any VRAM limitations.

Reduce VRAM usage by lowering texture quality, resolution, and/or disabling ray tracing.

Disable "Variable" framerate, and select one of the constant framerate settings instead.

Going back to the village after rescuing Ashley causes FPS drop (Chapter 4)

Once arrived at the village (after passing the church) the fps will drop massively in that area (happens on all platforms).
This is due to the particles (rain, wind, etc.) and the amount of NPCs (enemies) that are present at that moment.^{[dubious – discuss]}

On Steam, if the game is closed while a save is being created or backed up, all other saves may be corrupted.
