Sega Corporation is a Japanese multinational video game company and is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Sega Sammy Holdings.
The company was founded on June 3, 1960 as Nihon Goraku Bussan, but was later renamed to Sega Enterprises when the company acquired Rosen Enterprises in 1965. Sega began publishing games to PCs in 1984, and ramped up efforts to port console and arcade games to PC throughout the 90s via its subsidiary company Sega PC. In 2003, Sega and Sammy Corporation merged and became Sega Sammy Holdings, with Sega and Sammy becoming subsidaries under the newly-formed company.
