Sonic the Hedgehog is a singleplayer side view scrolling platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It is the first entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

Originally released on Sega Genesis in 1991, the game was ported to PC and released on October 26, 2010.

The game was eventually delisted on all storefronts on May 20, 2022 in preparation for the release of Sonic Origins.
