Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is a remastered version of the PlayStation 4 game from 2018. The game and subsequent remaster for PlayStation 5 were developed by Insomniac Games, while the PC version is being developed by Nixxes Software and published by PlayStation PC. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is the first traditional Spider-Man game to release on PC since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. The PC version improves in a variety of aspects compared to the PS5 release, including improved shadows, improved ray traced reflections (full resolution instead of half resolution, and more objects can be included in the ray traced reflections), FSR 2.0, DLSS, DLAA, ultrawide screen support, improved texture filtering and an unlocked frame rate.[1]
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered released on August 12, 2022, almost two years after it was originally released for the PlayStation 5 in 2020.
The PC version was well received by reviewers with it being praised as a good-quality port, with some criticism going to performance sometimes not being optimal on certain hardware configurations. The game was found to be quite CPU-heavy in some scenarios, especially during traversal and when ray-traced reflections are turned on.[2] Four days before release, Nixxes Software implemented significant performance improvements, ray tracing fixes and expanded graphical options for ray tracing, traffic density and crowd density to address most issues reviewers noted, indicating that some reviews might not fully reflect the state of the game on release date.[3][4][5][6]

- While at the graphics settings menu, the game itself can still be seen paused in the background. Making the user able to directly see the effects of changed graphical settings. Loading different quality of textures can take a few seconds after changing texture quality.

- It was reported that, at launch, SSAO seemed to deliver a more pleasing and plausible result compared to the HBAO+ option. Might be that the HBAO+ implementation is broken at launch.[8]

Issues unresolved
SMT and HT causing inconsistent CPU usage
- Happens when SMT (Ryzen) or HT (Intel) is enabled [11]
- Game can't use efficiently the logical cores available through hardware multithreading, disabling it increases CPU usage on all cores helping in CPU-intensive
scenarios increasing average fps [12]
- Nixxes will probably fix this incorrect cores usage in a future patch
- Disabling SMT/HT can severely impact the performance of games and applications. Advised to turn it back on after quitting the game.
Disable CPU multithreading[13]
|
- If you're using Ryzen CPU - Disable SMT (Simultaneous multithreading) in BIOS settings or using Ryzen Master.
- If you're using an Intel CPU - Disable HT (Hyper-threading) from BIOS settings
|
Cutscenes are partially blurred at aspect ratios wider than 21:9
- Happens when upscaling is enabled.
Workaround[14]
|
- Disable upscaling, if used.
|
Windows 10 version 1909 (Build 18363) or higher error
Update your Windows installation to Windows 10 version 1909 (Build 18363) or higher[16]
|
- Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered makes use of the DirectX Agility SDK, which requires Window 10 version 1909 (Build 18363) or newer.
|
Turn off compatibility mode on Steam.exe[17]
|
- If you get a Windows 10 version 1909 (Build 18363) or higher error message even though they have a newer Windows version, for example Windows 11. Then the issue is likely that Steam.exe is running in compatibility mode.
- Solution doesn't seem to work for everyone.[18]
- Go to steam installation folder, for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
- Right click on Steam.exe
- Click on Properties
- Go to the Compatibility tab and make sure Run this program in compatibility mode is not checked.
- Click on Change settings for all users
- Click on Apply
- Fully close Steam, so it is not even visible on the taskbar anymore
- Open Steam again
- Play the game

Video Memory Crash
- The game can crash with the following error: The game has crashed due to using more video memory than currently available on this PC. Please try lowering your graphics settings, lowering your resolution, and closing any unnecessary background applications before running the game again.[19]
High-end PC's: let Windows manage the page file size[19]
|
- This error can occur on systems with high-end hardware, when the Windows page file does not offer enough space to allocate VRAM budget. This can happen when a custom page file size is set as it is typically recommend letting Windows automatically manage the virtual memory size.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard
- Search for sysdm.cpl
- Go to the Advanced tab
- Press Settings under the Performance section.
- Press the Advanced tab in the Performance Options window.
- Under Virtual memory, press Change.
- Check that the box for Automatically manage paging file size for all drives is enabled.
|
Low-end PC's and laptops: lower your graphical settings[19]
|
- This crash might occur on lower-end hardware because the available VRAM and system memory is not enough for the selected graphical settings.
|
Getting stuck on the Spiderhack story mission
- This is an issue that appears to be related to framerates, with Insomniac officially saying they're looking into this issue, but have a workaround available.[20]
Limit framerate of the game to 60Hz or lower in the game[20]
|
- Switch the game to Exclusive Fullscreen.
- Set Refresh Rate to 60Hz or lower.
- Restart from previous checkpoint or this workaround won't work.
