Key points

Poor optimization for AMD-based systems. See ATI/AMD FIX.
GPU's with more than 2GB VRAM, can't launch the game, since the launcher only detects up to 2GB of VRAM. See Launch game button greyed out in the game Launcher for a solution.

Graphics feature State WSGF Notes
Widescreen resolution
The launcher displays a VRAM bar that can only detect a maximum of 2GB. Exceeding this limit by selecting a resolution ang graphics settings high enough will grey out the launch option; making it so that the desired values can never be selected. If so, enter the desired values in the registry editor. Type "regedit" (without quotation marks) then go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Activision\ASM\Settings\Display and set resolution, refresh rate, etc... there or see Launch game button greyed out in the game Launcher to remove the VRAM bar.
See the WSGF page for instructions.
4K Ultra HD
Field of view (FOV)
See the glossary page for potential workarounds.
Borderless fullscreen windowed
See the glossary page for potential workarounds.
Anisotropic filtering (AF)
Up to 16x, selectable in the launcher.
Anti-aliasing (AA)
FXAA only.
Vertical sync (Vsync)
60 FPS
120+ FPS

High dynamic range display (HDR)
See the glossary page for potential alternatives.

High Frame Rate

Use Cheat Engine[citation needed]

Use cheat engine and search for 0.016666666666 as a float in rounded (extreme) mode while game.exe is selected in the memory search range and "Writable", "Executable" and "CopyOnWrite is set to "Don't Care"". Two of the values shown will be FPS related. Change both to 0.00277777 for 360 FPS. The game may stutter initially but will get stable after a few seconds. Using v-sync here is recommended. Forcing a refresh rate may be needed as well, see Widescreen notes. Hex editing these values may be possible on some executables; removing the need of following the above process each time the game is launched. Replace all instances of 89 88 88 3C with 3F 0B 36 3B (360 FPS).

Launch game button greyed out in the game Launcher

If your GPU has more than 2GB of Video memory, and the bar in the launcher is red, the 'Launch Game' option will be greyed out.
Delete VideoDetection.dll
  1. Go to <path-to-game>
  2. Delete, move or rename VideoDetection.dll.

Download this tool to improve framerate on AMD/ATI cards[citation needed]
Originally created for Fallout: New Vegas but should work here.
Causes the game launcher to crash, so it needs to be applied after the launcher is open and removed afterwards. Could be automated with a batch file.
Doesn't work on Windows 10 with newest AMD drivers.
Install DXVK[1]
  1. Install DXVK.
  2. Unzip the folder.
  3. Go into the x32 folder and select d3d9.dll.
  4. Place the selected file in <path-to-game>\The Amazing Spider-Man.
  5. Run the game.
The frames per second may be unstable at first. However, the performance may improve after several minutes.
It can also be applied to PCs with components that are not AMD.
It may not work properly on certain types of PCs when applied.

Fix Street Level Audio cutting out and crashes

In the Launcher set "City Life Density" to low[citation needed]
Cap the frame rate at 30 FPS
