  1. Use the Universal Unreal Engine 4 Console Unlocker to access the developer console of the game.

Permanent config changes

Config variables otherwise available via Unreal Engine 4's Engine.ini can either be adjusted temporarily with the Universal Unreal Engine 4 Console Unlocker or permanently with Drogean's Custom .INI Kit.
This tool (Drogean's Custom .INI Kit) allows for post-processing effects that cannot be changed through the in-game settings (such as depth of field, per-object motion blur, and vignette) to be disabled.
It is not recommended to disable the bloom effect with this tool as it may be tied to visual aspects beyond expected (e.g. lighting, lightsaber effects, etc.).
Download and extract Drogean's Custom .INI Kit
  1. Make edits only to the [SystemSettings] portion of pakchunk99-Mods_CustomMod_P\SwGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini indicated in the file if it you wanna change post processing effects.
  2. Save the changes.
  3. Run Create Config Pak.bat as administrator.
  4. Copy the new pakchunk99-Mods_CustomMod_P.pak file to the <path-to-game>\SwGame\Content\Paks\ folder.

Alleviating the shader compilation stutter slightly [In certain scenes only]

Download and extract Drogean's Custom .INI Kit
  1. Make edits to the [SystemSettings] portion of pakchunk99-Mods_CustomMod_P\SwGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini
  2. Add the line r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1 at the bottom of [SystemSettings].
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Run Create Config Pak.bat as administrator.
  5. Copy the new pakchunk99-Mods_CustomMod_P.pak file to the <path-to-game>\SwGame\Content\Paks\ folder.

Disable anti-aliasing

Edit GameUserSettings.ini[14]
  1. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\SwGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor.
  2. Open GameUserSettings.ini with Notepad.
  3. Find sg.AntiAliasingQuality=3 at the very bottom under "ScalabilityGroups" and change it to 0.
Available options are 3 (Epic), 2, 1 and 0 (Disabled). To disable it via the in-game settings, see Enable low settings.

Issues fixed

Shader compilation stutter

The game suffers from severe shader compilation related stutters during gameplay.
Inject DXVK
Injecting DXVK to use the Vulkan API, instead of DirectX 11, seems to improve the stability and performance of gameplay. It tends to distribute the heavy CPU load to the GPU, as well.
Due to DXVK's nature it relies on shader cache, which is compiled during the first use of that shader. Because of that you can experience increased short stutter at the beginning of your playthrough, which is completely normal and will not reoccur after compilation has finished.
dxvk-gplasync patch by Ph42oN and Sporif (the most updated "async" solution) alleviates this problem by making the compilation asynchronous and is recommended over "regular" dxvk.
However and somewhat contradictingly, a recent benchmark of this game with different DXVK solutions [18] seems to point to less stuttering using an older version of "Async" (dxvk-async 1.10.3) or even "regular dxvk" (DXVK version 2.3) as producing even less stuttering than the latest and more upket GPLAsync version (2.3-1, at the time), so better luck might be had using those. Although any of these vastly improves native DX11, anyway.

Corrupt save game

Users have reported issues where the save game can become corrupt if something affects the save process of the game, resulting in non-working saves and lost progress.[19]
Possible fix: Restore the backup save game[citation needed]
  1. Navigate to Save game data location.
  2. Create a copy of the whole save folder on another location so a backup is available.
  3. Rename or delete SaveGame00.sav
  4. Rename Backup00.sav to SaveGame00.sav
  5. Run the game and see if the backup save can be read.

High CPU usage or stuttering

Use BES to reduce CPU use by the game[20]
  1. Download BES.
  2. Unpack the archive and run BES.exe as administrator.
  3. Launch the game.
  4. In the BES window, click on Target... and select starwarsjedifallenorder.exe from the list.
  5. Click on Limit this (temporary) or Limit/Watch (persistent) and confirm by clicking on Yes.
  6. Move the slider below to put the limit at -5% or experiment with other values.
Disabling Origin overlay[21]
  1. Launch the game.
  2. Tab out of the game.
  3. Go to Origin -> Application Settings menu.
  4. Leave Origin on that menu and tab back into the game.

Notes

Turning off the Origin overlay may also help some users.
May help with other Origin games that suffer from these issues.
Disabling Steam overlay[22]
Turning off the Steam overlay may help some users.
  1. Open up Steam
  2. Right click on Fallen Order
  3. Click on Properties
  4. On the General tab, uncheck Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game

Missing voice-over audio

Running the Steam version of the game directly with <path-to-game>\SwGame\Binaries\Win64\SwGame-Win64-Shipping.exe results in missing voice-over audio when using non-English languages.
Force game localization via configuration override
  1. Follow the instructions described in Permanent config changes
  2. Append the following lines to DefaultEngine.ini. Replace de-DE with the IETF tag of the desired language (de-DE, es-ES, es-MX, fr-FR, it-IT, ja-JP, ko, pl-PL, pt_BR, ru-RU, zh-Hans, zh-Hant)
