Microtransactions

Type Notes
Boost All characters (original and licensed) can be bought with real money. Each character unlocks three unique Perks that give certain advantagens to either a Killer or a Survivor.
Cosmetic Skins and clothes for characters.
Currency Auric Cells are the paid currency used for in-game purchases and require real money.

Iridescent Shards are the free currency earned by playing the game normally, and can be used to purchase some of the characters and cosmetics from the in-game store.

The game has a so-called "Shrine of Secrets", which sometimes makes Perks that would otherwise only be available through purchases with real money available for everyone through Iridescent Shards.
The Perks of the Shrine of Secrets are handpicked by the developers.
Infinite spend Auric Cells can be bought infinitely, although there's a limited quantity of cosmetics available.
Unlock Some characters are licensed (e.g. the Nemesis from the Resident Evil series) and can only be bought with real money.
Note: all maps, including licensed ones, are DLC-independent (meaning it's possible to play on them just by having the base game purchased).

The game engine may allow for manual configuration of the game via its variables. See the Unreal Engine 4 page for more details.

Widescreen resolution

Change resolution[11]
  1. Put "-ResX= -ResY=" with the desired values in the game launch options (e.g. -resx=1920 -resy=1080).
  2. If settings do not take effect in fullscreen mode, press Alt+ Enter to switch to windowed mode.

DirectX 12

Enable DirectX 12[12]
The game uses DirectX 11 by default, but some users have reported less sttutering and more performance with the DirectX 12 API while playing the game.
Before enabling this, be sure your GPU supports it.
Not all users benefit from DirectX 12. Some have better performance with DirectX 11. Try both and see which works best for you.
  1. Go to your launcher's launch options section (for Steam, that would be right-clicking the game in your library and going to "Properties...").
  2. Add -dx12 to the launch options.

Skip the intro video

Delete the intro video file[13]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\DeadByDaylight\Content\Movies\AdditionalLoadingScreen\LoadingScreenPostLogin.bk2.
  2. Delete the LoadingScreenPostLogin.bk2 video file.
A key press will still be necessary to go to the main menu ("Press SPACE to continue").
When the game is updated, the file may be regenerated.

Replacing the LoadingScreenPostLogin.bk2 within the AdditionalLoadingScreen Folder with the mentioned LoadingScreen.bk2 File replaces the File with the initial intro Video. Basically terminating the played video, as it lasts only for a few seconds, this file will get replaced with every patch, as of now, this seems to work.

Mouse sensitivity

Set mouse sensitivity[14]
  1. Go to the configuration files location.
  2. Open Input.ini.
  3. Add the following lines, changing the Sensitivity values on the MouseX and MouseY Axes as desired:
[/Script/Engine.InputSettings]
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseX",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.000000,Sensitivity=0.015000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseY",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.000000,Sensitivity=0.015000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="Gamepad_RightX",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.050000,Sensitivity=1.00000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="Gamepad_RightY",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.050000,Sensitivity=1.00000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="Gamepad_LeftX",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.050000,Sensitivity=1.00000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="Gamepad_LeftY",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.050000,Sensitivity=1.00000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
Adding the Mouse Axes without the Gamepad Axes disables both controller joysticks in gameplay, and the player character will slowly move on their own unless these Axes are added to set their deadzone above 0.
