Issues fixed

SteamVR/OculusVR launches on game start

Delete the Oculus Binaries[3]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\.
  2. Delete or rename the Oculus folder.

Fix shader compilation stutter

This fixes the dreadful GPU shader compilation stutter that (most) Unreal Engine 4/5 (Directx 12) games are notorious for by forcing the game to run in DirectX 11 while also enabling shader preloading on load.
Enable shader preloading (Directx 11 only)
  1. Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\ItTakesTwo\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini with a text editor.
  2. Add the following lines:
  1. Use the command line argument -dx11 when running the game executable.
Disable Control Flow Guard[4]
  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Navigate to the App & browser control and click on Exploit protection settings.
  3. Click on the Program settings header, followed by Add program to customize.
  4. Add the program by its executable filename or by browsing to it.
  5. Scroll down to Control flow guard (CFG).
  6. Enable Override system settings and ensure the toggle is set to Off.
  7. Click on Apply to save the changes.
  8. Restart the system to allow the changes to take effect.
  9. Some people will need to additionally change the game to DX11 setting afterwards to see the improvement[5].
