Unreal Tournament 4 | Cancelled |
The game officially titled as Unreal Tournament, but colloquially referred to as Unreal Tournament 4, is a cancelled reboot of the franchise of the same name.
The initial prototype files were compiled by an Unreal Engine 4 subscriber, after which the game became officially available as of August 13, 2014 on Windows, and later for OS X and Linux. The game was supposed to be developed with community involvement. However, with the release and worldwide success of Fortnite in 2017, development on Unreal Tournament was quietly halted after the last update from June 28, 2017.[1] An official cancellation notice was not made until an official Epic Games livestream on December 13, 2018.[2]
The game's official servers were shut down on January 24, 2023, alongside those for the rest of the franchise.[3]
