F1 Challenge '99-'02 is a singleplayer and multiplayer racing and simulation game in the F1 series.

The game was the last EA Sports-branded Formula 1 game until the Codemasters acquisition and F1 22. As Electronic Arts did not have a license for the 2003 Formula 1 season but was still a year away from losing a license for publishing Formula 1 games in general, this title includes 1999 through 2002 seasons in one game, effectively being an updated release of all prior EA Sports F1 games.

The console versions of this game were titled F1 Career Challenge, but offer no unique content.

The game still has a modding community, but active projects distribute the whole game alongside the modified files.

Issues fixed

Crashes after opening game using unofficial mods on Windows 8 and later

Changing the racing team in menu and loading tracks has issues. The possible way was a mod problem.^[5]

Open `F1 Challenge 99-02.exe` compatibility settings. Enable Windows 98/ME compatibility mode. Run the game as adminstrator.

Vsync option in Game Setup not working on Windows 10

The game uses Vsync to enable but in Windows 10 does not work because the game uses DirectX 8 and the Vsync of DirectX 8 in Windows 10 is broken.

Use dgVoodoo 2
Download dgVoodoo 2. Copy `dgVoodooCpl.exe` and `MS\x86\D3D8.dll` to `<path-to-game>`.
