Issues unresolved

Crash just before level starts

Happens simultaneously to all connected players with an access violation in AK::MemoryMgr::SetMonitoring
Can possibly be worked around by waiting some seconds before pressing ready, after loading has finished for everyone[5]

Issues fixed

Black screen on start up or random crashes during the game

Don't run PAYDAY with Teamspeak 3 or Ventrilo - both will likely cause the game to fail to load.
ALIENWARE users make sure you have AlienFX installed.
Update DirectX and PhysX[citation needed]

Run the game at screen refresh rate

Fullscreen mode only runs at 60 Hz by default.
Override refresh rate set by game[6]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open renderer_settings.xml with a text editor.
  3. If the resolution doesn't look right despite setting screen native one, find resolution= and make sure it's followed by your resolution, e.g. "1920 1080".
  4. Find refresh_rate= and make sure it's followed by your refresh rate, e.g. "120".

PhysX redistributable installation aborts

Fix everlasting first time setup[citation needed]
  1. Open a command prompt
  2. Run reg add HKCU\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\Apps\24240 /v PhysXNew /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
