Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a sci-fi first-person action and platform game in the Mirror's Edge series.

On December 8, 2023, online services for Mirror's Edge Catalyst were shut down, rendering asynchronous multiplayer and all other social features inaccessible.[1]

Pre-rendered cutscenes are 30 FPS. Frame rate is capped to 72 during the videos.
Frame Rate is capped at 200 FPS during gameplay. For higher values use the command line "GameTime.MaxVariableFPS #" where # is the max desired frame rate (0 will not uncap the fps). See depth of field section for code implementation method.[4]

Disable DoF[4]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>.
  2. Create a new file named user.cfg and edit it with a text editor.
  3. Write "PostProcess.ForceDofEnable 0" to disable depth of field.
  4. Save your changes.

Field of view (FOV)

Use Higher FOV Options mod[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>.
  2. Create a new file named user.cfg and edit it with a text editor.
  3. Write Render.ForceFov # where # is your preferred FOV.
  4. Save your changes.

Anti-aliasing (AA)

Disable anti-aliasing on custom preset[citation needed]
  1. Set in game preset to Custom.
  2. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  3. Open PROF_SAVE_profile with preferred text editor.
  4. Change GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred and GstRender.AntiAliasingPost to 0.
  5. Start the game.


GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred does not seem to have any effect.
If the game crashes after this change, change the reflection details to low with (GstRender.ReflectionQuality 0).[6]
Because of the game's visual direction having massive amount of high contrast edges and constantly moving camera, disabling anti-aliasing produces massive amount of aliasing and shimmering, and since the screen space reflections rely on temporal accumulation, disabling TAA will cause visual bugs. If using resolution scaling is too demanding, applying some other form of anti-aliasing externally, e.g. SMAA using ReShade is highly recommended.
If disabling TAA is not a viable option, using a sharpening filter like AMD's Radeon Image Sharpening or Nvidia's Freestyle Sharpen is recommended, since it helps reduce the TAA blur, especially at higher resolutions.

Blurry visuals and textures

By default, if the game tries to utilize more VRAM than is available, it will automatically decrease the quality of game assets, including textures and shadows.
Disable GPU memory restriction in graphics settings[citation needed]


Make sure the machine meets more than the minimum system requirements before doing this, as especially low amount of VRAM may introduce other problems, including stuttering.
In-game post-processing anti-aliasing also blurs visuals. See Anti-aliasing (AA).

Uneven camera motion with mouse input

Mouse input generates uneven camera motion at framerates indivisible by 30.
Use an external tool such as RTSS to cap framerate to 30, 60, 90, 120, etc., or use V-sync at a matching refresh rate.


These fixes resolves stuttering at regular intervals, from the auto-saving, and/or moving in the world.
Exclude the save game data location in the antivirus used on the computer.
Turn off fullscreen optimizations in compatibility settings for MirrorsEdgeCatalyst.exe
Enable GPU memory restriction in graphics settings.
Set Origin to offline mode[9]
Change refresh rate[citation needed]
  1. Set the monitor's refresh rate at 60 Hz.[citation needed]

Move save files to SSD[10]

If the game is on a SSD but the save files are present on a HDD, it will cause stuttering and CPU/GPU spikes every 5 seconds or so. Move the save files to the SSD or create a symbolic link as described here.

Disable HAGS[citation needed]
  1. Open Windows Settings
  2. Use the searchbox to look for "graphic settings"
  3. Toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling Off.
  4. Restart the computer.
Set process priority to High[11]

To automate this, put the following commands into a batch file (.bat extension) in the game's directory, then use the .bat file to launch the game (The batch file has to be ran as admin):

Black screen on launch

Disable the TeamViewer QuickConnect plugin[citation needed]
  1. Open TeamViewer, select "Extra" then "Options". Go to the "Advanced" tab and select "Show advanced options.
  2. Under "Advanced settings for Computers and Contacts" click "Configure" and untick "Show QuickConnect button".


This can also be done by opening an Explorer window, clicking on the QuickConnect icon, and selecting disable in the bottom right corner.

Hair bug on reflective elevator surfaces

When in an elevator, if there is a reflective surface, Faith's hair will glitch up or down, depending on which direction she is heading.
Cap the framerate to 30 FPS[12]
