Widescreen resolution

Correcting FOV for widescreen resolutions requires the GOG version, or a cracked exe.
Set resolution and FOV[4]
  1. Run the game and exit.
  2. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  3. Open newconfig.cfg.
  4. Edit the following lines to set the resolution.
    • set r_screenheight "XXXX"
    • set r_screenwidth "XXXX"
    • set r_refreshrate "XXX"
  5. Add the following lines to set the correct weapon FOV.
    • For widescreen resolutions:
      • set r_first_person_fov_x "70"
      • set r_first_person_fov_y "50"
    • For ultra-widescreen resolutions:
      • set r_first_person_fov_x "70"
      • set r_first_person_fov_y "40"
    • For multi-monitor resolutions:
      • set r_first_person_fov_x "75"
      • set r_first_person_fov_y "30"
  6. Open mohpa.exe with a hex editor such as HxD.
  7. Press Ctrl+F and set Datatype to Hex-values.
  8. Search for F6 68 00 00 A0 42 8B and change it to:
    • F6 68 00 00 BA 42 8B for 16:10 screens
    • F6 68 00 00 C8 42 8B for 16:9 screens
    • F6 68 00 00 EA 42 8B for 21:9 screens

    • BA 00 00 EA 42 for 21:9 screens
    • BA 00 00 11 43 for multi-monitor screens
  10. Save the file.
  11. In game, zoom in and out (Alt) to correct the FOV.

Windowed

Force windowed[citation needed]
  1. Download and run DxWnd.
  2. Click on Edit, then Add.
  3. Set the name and executable path.
  4. Set the window position and size.
  5. Set Desktop for borderless fullscreen windowed.
  6. Click on Video tab, set Modal Style.
  7. Click OK, then File and Save.
Alternatively, you can add +set r_fullscreen "0" into your config file to have your game run in a window and then use solutions like Windowed Borderless Gaming or Borderless gaming to achieve borderless window.

Anti-aliasing (AA)

Enable 8x MSAA[citation needed]
Nvidia hardware: graphical glitches (such as white dots around anti-aliased entities) might occur when enabling MSAA (enhancing to SGSSAA removes those artifacts); diagonal dotted line also appears in certain instances (such as the credits screen), turning "AA Fix" to on via nVidia Profile Inspector fixes this.[5]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Create and open custom.cfg.
  3. Add the line set r_multisample_quality 8.

Frame rate (FPS)

Remove FPS cap[citation needed]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open newconfig.cfg.
  3. Add the line set com_maxfps 0.
Frame rate is capped to refresh rate during gameplay on AMD graphics cards while running fullscreen mode.[citation needed]

Tested three exes: EA digital, a third-party alternate exe and the fov-hacked exe from the community files section (I think based on GOG?). Of those only the third-party alternate exe crashed every time. Patches do not matter. Same with retail copy.
