Monetization

Type Notes
DLC Bundles can be bought as DLC which offer a mix of in-game benefits.
Free-to-play The game switched from a paid to free-to-play model in December 2018.[4]

Microtransactions

Type Notes
Cosmetic Champion shins can be unlocked with Rubies, or through the rotating season pass. There are also Avatars, Emotes and Areas which can only be unlocked through DLC or the season pass.
Currency Money must be spent on Rubies, the game's premium currency in order to buy select in-game goods.
Free-to-grind Two in-game currencies are offers, Gold and Shards. Gold is used to purchase Power Tokens and dailyshop offers, while Shards are used to directly purchase and upgrade new cards and champions. Both currcines including Rubies can be earnt through playing matches, completing challenges/quests and leveling up your account.
Infinite spend Rubies can be purchased indefinitely from the in-game shop.
Loot box The game offers Power Tokens, which can be bought with either the in-game gold or with Rubies as one method to unlock cards.
Unlock Most champions are locked for play unless bought with the in-game shards, or Rubies. Cards are also locked until either won from a Power Token, or bought directly with Shards.
