Version differences

Fortnite Battle Royale

The popular free-to-play 100-player PvP mode of the game.
This mode was originally in paid Early Access for two weeks before it was released as a free-to-play mode on September 26, 2017.[10][11]

Fortnite Save The World / Standard Edition

The original mode of the game; a PvE co-op campaign that was released to Early Access on July 25, 2017 and remained as such up until June 30, 2020.[6] While Epic originally mentioned that the intention was to make the mode free-to-play when was released,[12] during the 2020 release announcement they stated that the mode would remain a premium experience rather than going free-to-play.[6]
The Standard Edition includes the PvE co-op campaign, 7 pinata packs, and 4 in-game icons.

Deluxe Edition

Includes everything the Standard Edition includes, along with the Starter Hero Pack and additional in-game items, consumables, and cosmetics; some of which are exclusive.

Issues unresolved

Shader compilation stutter

DX12 Shaders and Pre-download Streamed Assets are available to download from options, however the stutter will still persist through out the game.[23]
The game suffers from severe shader compilation related stutters during gameplay, this occurs whenever a new effect is displayed and thus whenever a new shader has to be compiled.[24][25]
