- All versions require an internet connection to launch the game and switch games. Losing an internet connection in the middle of a game will periodically bring up a warning message that can be dismissed.[2] Kingdom Hearts Re-Fined solves this issue from 3.0 onwards - see below.
Essential improvements
Kingdom Hearts Re-Fined
This mod aims to fix problems, crashes, and bugs that are present within the PC Ports of all legacy-class Kingdom Hearts games.[3]
- As of writing, release v3.00 supports all games besides Chain of Memories.

Issues unresolved
Game crashes randomly
To help mitigate the issue, make sure the frame rate is capped no higher than 60.[11]
- Only the camera logic will run uncapped, while the rest of the game runs at 30 or 60 regardless of the frame rate setting.
- Crashes are less likely to occur at lower refresh rates. This means 30 is the most stable.

- Game relies on internet connection to connect to EOS for statistics and will not boot when launched offline. Disconnecting from the internet during gameplay won't kick the player out, but a message will appear periodically asking the user to check their internet connection. This message can be dismissed by clicking the "Retry" button that appears on the message, but the message can't be dismissed when it appears as a result of switching or launching games from the menu while offline.
