Issues fixed[edit]

Post-processing[edit]

Use HelixMod[4]
  1. Download Helix Mod.
  2. Extract the contents to the games installation folder.
  3. Launch the game and let it overwrite the profile.
  4. Disable the in-game motion blur.

Hotkeys

F1 Convergence presets.
F2 HUD depth presets. 40% depth in gameplay and 20% in cutscenes by default.
F3 HUD toggle. Enabled by default.
F4 Depth of Field toggle (it only appears in cutscenes). Enabled by default.
F5 Protagonist beard toggle when you use the default or long beard. Enabled by default.
F6 Disables a Compute Shader responsible for some lighting at certain locations (like sanctuaries). Enable this if you experience poor performance in some areas. Enabled by default.
5 (not the numpad): Bloom toggle. Enabled by default.
6 (not the numpad): Vignette toggle. Disabled by default.
8 (not the numpad): Screen Space Reflections quality multiplier (2, 4, 8, 16, 0, 1). defaults to x1. This doesn't control resolution. It increases the amount of geometry reflected. There is a performance cost when you increase this, but it isn't too bad.
9 (not the numpad): SSAO toggle, in case you want to disable it without going to the settings menu. It can be useful for cutscenes, because it looks uglier and unfiltered there.

Controls not working when using overlay software[edit]

When using overlay software such as Fraps, Rivatuner, or even ReShade/SweetFX, the controls will not respond correctly during gameplay.
Disable Ansel[citation needed]
  1. Go to the installation folder.
  2. Delete or rename AnselSDK64.dll.

Game is stuttering when playing with mouse & keyboard[edit]

When no controller is connected, the game will stutter.
To fix this, either:
  1. Connect a controller
  2. Install a virtual controller (e.g. vJoy)

Game launcher freezes when playing with mouse & keyboard[edit]

The game's launcher will freeze and crash if no controller is connected.
To fix this, either:
  1. Connect a controller
  2. Install a virtual controller (e.g. vJoy)

Skip redundant steam selection box and launcher settings window[edit]

Use nioh.exe as the launcher:
  1. Backup/rename nioh_launcher.exe
  2. Delete the original nioh_launcher.exe
  3. Make a copy of nioh.exe
  4. Name the copy nioh_launcher.exe
  5. Play the game from a steam shortcut

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/485510/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (485510) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
