DirectX 10 rendering mode was broken after installing Platform update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (KB2670838). To run the game in DX10 mode without crashing, uninstall KB2670838 from Control Panel.[citation needed]

Use inspector as per usual (open World in Conflict profile, etc.) and change flag 0x000B0000 to 0x00000032. There is also an 0x00000004 flag for even stronger HBAO+ effect.
