{{--}} Game speed bound to frame rate and no frame skipping; any framedrops will slow the game down. This is because many animations, such as particle effects (blood spilling, smoke, water splashing) are not optimized for 60FPS, and will often lag the game down to 30FPS (resulting in the game playing at half speed due to lack of frameskipping) until the animation is over and it resumes back to 60FPS. Almost every lag spike, even on decent gaming PCs, are caused by these unoptimized animations.

Essential improvements

Resident Evil 4 HD Texture Project

Although the mod is currently incomplete a download is already available.

Color filter mod

The built-in color filters are somewhat useless. They can easily replaced to add more contrast and saturation, making the horror experience appear much more foreboding. Color filter 2 is likely the best: compare this to this.
