- Middle-earth: Shadow of War used to contain an extensive in-game real money payment marketplace, which offered lootboxes with gameplay-affecting premium orcs. Approximately 9 months after launch, the in-game marketplace was removed and the pacing of the game and the ending was rebalanced to account for this.[5]

- Microsoft Store version does not seem to use Denuvo Anti-Tamper based on the size of the executable (59,226 KB), the lack of connection to any of the regular Denuvo Anti-Tamper servers (neither srv01-srv03 nor revalidate.wbgames.com), how fast the game starts to initialize on launch (basically instant), as well as the lack of an offline token in any of the usual folders.
