This page is for the 2016 game. For the original 2000 game, see Hitman: Codename 47.
Key points
- Individual DLC/levels of this game can be disabled/uninstalled in the DLC Steam menu of the game to significantly save on disk space
- The game requires a constant internet connection for some features to work properly (Elusive targets, Contracts mode, Level progression, Weapon unlocking, and Challenge progression) .[4] Unlocks made online do sync to the offline profile, however.

Force Vulkan under Linux
Through launcher[8]
|
- Open Feral Launcher.
- Go to Advanced Options.
- add
-showdebugpanel -showtestpanel .
|
By editing configuration files[9]
|
- Edit
$XDG_DATA_HOME/feral-interactive/HITMAN/preferences .
- Add
<value name="UseVulkan" type="integer">1</value> below HKEY_CURRENT_USER , Software , IndirectX , Direct3D and Config keys.

- This forces simple D3D11 to Vulkan translation which could result with increased[10] or decreased performance and possible visual glitches, e.g. no water.[9]

Issues fixed
Flickering with AMD Crossfire
- Game flickers when run on multiple AMD GPUs in Crossfire.
Change the resolution and then change back to the original resolution[14]
|
Run the game at screen refresh rate
- Fullscreen mode defaults to 60 Hz, even if the screen refresh rate is set higher than that.
Set screen refresh rate[15]
|
- Go to the configuration file(s) location.
- Double-click on the
Refreshrate entry.
- Select Decimal and change the value to your screen refresh rate.
Notes
- On Windows, there used to be a
GFXSettings.HITMAN.xml file that had graphics settings, but the game has since been updated. As a result, the file was removed and the settings were moved to the Registry. On Linux, the XML file exists but is set up in the same coding language as a Registry entry.

Game crashes to desktop
Performance-monitoring software, like Logitech Gaming Software, can cause the game to crash. Close it before starting the game.
