Retail copies might come with Pando Media Booster, a third-party BitTorrent-based client that was used up until 2013 to speed up the patching process of the game. Due to security concerns, Pando Media Booster should be uninstalled if it is present on the system.[2][3]

DLC Portions of the game's quests and classes can be bought in à la carte fashion via quest packs and purchased classes.
Expansion pack The game receives regular paid expansions with new story content and occasionally new game mechanics.
Free-to-play The base game and first 5 expansions (up to level 95 out of 140) are entirely free. This is likely to constitute at least 200+ hours of free content for new players (and potentially a lot more if you're a completionist).[4][5]
Subscription Optional monthly subscription which unlocks large portions (but not all) of content which free to play players can buy directly.

This error can appear if trying to log in using another Standing Stone Games account (i.e. a Dungeons & Dragons Online account), or old Turbine account credentials. If not, log in to the account control panel or contact official support.[7]
