Essential improvements[edit]
Patches[edit]
Patch 1.03 is available to update the game and remove Tages DRM.
Unofficial Patch[edit]
This fan-made patch (downloadable here or here) focuses on improving the English localisation and restoring text that was not translated from German in the original game. However it also fixes bugs and oversights relating to achievements and quests, in addition to offering a number of optional tweaks to gameplay, which means it may still be of interest to those not playing in English.
Skip intro videos[edit]
Download and extract RDAExplorer, and run RDAExplorerGUI. In '\dawn of discovery\maindata\' or '\anno 1404\maindata\', open the .rda for your language, either usa0.rda or eng0.rda.
Tip: Create a backup of the .rda file in case you mess up or want to re-enable the movies!
You MUST open the .rda using the 'Open' method, NOT 'Open - READ ONLY'. Picking READ ONLY will cause the game to claim you've modded it and achievements will be disabled.
Once the .rda is open, find the data\loca\[usa or eng]\movies\start_logo_list.txt file. Right-click on it and pick 'Delete'. Then do File->Save.
4GB patch[edit]
The 4GB patch improves stability during long sessions. Download it here and select Addon.exe as the target.
