Version differences

The 2013 version includes unique AA settings that are not present in the 2015 version.
The 2015 version simplifies the graphic settings, as well as fixing some visual bugs from the 2013 version.
The GOG.com release is missing the free DLC containing two new levels, as well as the 2015 version.

Playing the original version on Steam

By default, the Steam version uses the 2023 version. Both 2013 and 2015 versions can be played via the game's beta branches.

  1. On Steam Library, right click on Slender: The Arrival > Properties... > Betas.
  2. Select the 2013 version (version2013) or the 2015 version (version2015).

The HUD's scale is fixed in 16:9, playing the game in a different aspect ratio will not scale it. Cutscenes are letterboxed.

For the 2013 version: SSAA (1.5x), DLAA, and NFAA. For the 2015 version, there's no dedicated option, FXAA is used if "Terrain Detail" is set to "Medium" or "High".

Vertical sync (Vsync)
For the 2015 version, V-Sync must be set to "60 FPS" in order to run the game at the highest refresh rate supported by the monitor.
60 FPS
For both versions, frame rate is capped at 60 FPS when V-Sync is set to "Off". For the 2015 version, an in-game framerate limiter for 30 FPS is also available.
120+ FPS
Frame rate is capped to the highest refresh rate currently used by the monitor when V-Sync is enabled.
