Run classic mode in ScummVM[edit]

This section may require cleanup to meet basic quality standards. You can help by modifying the article. The discussion page may contain useful suggestions.
Use DoubleFine Explorer[1]
  1. Create a new folder (It doesn't matter what it is named, but this guide will henceforth refer to that folder as DOTT).
  2. Inside the new DOTT folder, create an additional folder named MANIAC.
  3. If using the higher-quality voices and sound effects from the remaster, download DOTT reMONSTERed and extract it to its own folder.
  4. Open <path-to-game>\tenta.cle with DoubleFine Explorer.
  5. Extract tentacle.000, tentacle.001 to the DOTT folder.
  6. If using the original version's voices and sound effects, extract monster.sou to the DOTT folder.
  7. If using the remaster's voices and sound effects, extract iMUSEClient_SFX.fsb and iMUSEClient_VO.fsb to the same folder as DOTT reMONSTERed.
  8. Extract the entire contents of the maniac subdirectory to the MANIAC folder.
  9. Close DoubleFine Explorer.
  10. If using the remaster's voices and sound effects, run remonster.exe and copy the newly created monster.so3 to the DOTT folder.
  11. Launch ScummVM and add the DOTT folder as a new game.

Issues fixed[edit]

Audio clipping/crackling/stuttering on Windows 10[edit]

Setting the game to Windows 8 compatibility mode may alleviate some of the audio issues.
Set Windows 8 Compatibility mode[2]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>
  2. To set the compatibility mode, right click Dott.exe, select Properties.
  3. Go to the compatibility tab, select "Windows 8" from the drop down list.
Use the --DisableFMODDSP parameter[2]
