Palworld is a singleplayer multiplayer third-person open world survival game developed and published by indie studio Pocketpair. Memed as 'Pokemon with Guns', the game aims to feature open-world gameplay from the Pokémon games combined with base building.[2]

Pocketpair released the game into early access on January 19, 2024.

The studio plans to develop the game for at least a year before its full release.[3] Planned features for the full release include PvP modes, guild raids, and cross-server Pal trading.[4]

Field of View (FOV)

Increase the FOV beyond 90 degrees using a HEX editor
Palworld's included field of view slider maxes out at 90 degrees, but it can be increased further with hex editing.
  1. Open the game and load it into a save file, then exit to the menu.
  2. Go to Graphics, change the FOV to any value that isn't currently being used, and then save settings.
  3. Close the game.
  4. If using the Microsoft Store version, go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\PocketpairInc.Palworld_ad4psfrxyesvt\SystemAppData\wgs\IDprofile\IDWorld\. If using the Steam version, go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\. If you are unsure which folders are correct, search by date modified and open the most recent file following steps 1 and 2.
  5. Open the UserOption.sav file within this folder with a hex editor.
  6. Search for "FOV". There are two entries. One controls the mounted camera's FOV, and the other is for the player character's FOV.
  7. In the decoded text section, look for the portion after FOV and FloatProperty that looks like 'xA', where x is the current FOV.
  8. Highlight the "x" portion in the decoded text. It should highlight the corresponding part, which should be changed.
  9. Change this value to FF or another desired style. Repeat this for both entries if the FOV is desired to be changed for both the player and mounted cameras.
  10. Save the file.
  11. Open Palworld. If the new FOV appears in the graphics settings, the changes were successful.

Notes

IDprofile and IDworld will be different for each player. If multiple worlds or characters have been created using the game, then there will be several folders. It should be possible to tell which one is desired to edit by changing a setting in the game, saving settings, and then filtering by recently modified settings in Windows Explorer.
Don't touch the FOV slider, or it will reset. Other graphics settings can be changed without needing to repeat these steps.
Any number between 160 and 255 can be converted to get the desired FOV. The following is an example, where the first part is the hex value, the second is the integer being converted into hexadecimal, and the third is the FOV value that Palworld will show in the graphics menu.
A0 = 160 = 70 degrees
FF = 255 = 107 degrees
Y-axis scaling for Ultrawide monitors
Fixes the "Zoomed in" issue that affects Ultrawide monitors, even at FOV set to 90.
  1. Go to the configuration location for the installed version of the game.
  2. Open "Engine.ini"
  3. At the bottom of the file, add the following:
[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV
  1. Save the file
  2. (Optionally) Set the file to "Read Only" by right-clicking the file, going to "Properties" and ticking the checkbox called "Read-Only".

Notes

As of the current v0.1.2.0 build of the game, setting the file to "Read-Only" might not be necessary.
