Issues fixed

Game silently fails to run (Steam/Linux)

If the Steam version of the game was installed prior to the 3.1.0 update which changed <path-to-game>/Oxenfree_Data to <path-to-game>/OXENFREE_Data,[9] the folder may not actually have been renamed, so the game may not run.
Fix the capitalization of the game's "data" folder

In <path-to-game>, rename Oxenfree_Data to OXENFREE_Data.

Missing saved progress or New Game Plus status (Steam/Linux)

Since the 3.1.0 update which renamed the game from Oxenfree to OXENFREE[9], your saved game progress or New Game+ status may appear to be missing.
Fix the capitalization of the game's "save data" folder

In $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/unity3d/Night School Studio, rename Oxenfree to OXENFREE.

Activating officially added polish version (and many others) of the game (Windows)

Earlier was available a translation made by community of grajpopolsku.pl, but in some patch polish localization was officially added to the game, although it (and many other languages) does not appear on the list of officially available languages on Steam Store. When Polish localization was officially added to the game, the localization made by grajpopolsku.pl was removed by them from their website.[10] [11]
Change one value in Registry Editor
Before you open it, make sure the Russian version of the game has been activated.
  1. Open the Registry Editor.
  2. Go to location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Night School Studio\Oxenfree\.
  3. Click on text_language_h2258702997.
  4. Set decimal system, change the value for the number corresponding to your native language (full list below), and click OK.
  5. Run the game.

  5. ↑ 5.0 5.1 To access the pre-x86-deprecation version in Steam, go to the Betas tab of the game's Properties window and select "linux_pre64 - Pre-x86 deprecation" from the drop-down list. The game will roll back to an older version with both a 32-bit executable Oxenfree.x86 and a 64-bit executable Oxenfree.x86_64, rather than a single 64-bit executable OXENFREE. Note that Steam will still be configured to launch OXENFREE on 64-bit Linux — the option to launch Oxenfree.x86_64 was removed[12] — so using this version of the game on such systems will result in a "missing executable" error. This can be resolved by creating a symbolic link from <path-to-game>/OXENFREE to <path-to-game>/Oxenfree.x86_64. (Open <path-to-game> in a terminal and enter ln -s Oxenfree.x86_64 OXENFREE.) If switching to this "beta" branch after installing the game from the main branch, one may also need to rename the folder <path-to-game>/OXENFREE_Data to <path-to-game>/Oxenfree_Data in order to get the game working. Similarly, when switching from the "beta" branch back to the main branch, the folder may need to be renamed from <path-to-game>/Oxenfree_Data to <path-to-game>/OXENFREE_Data.
