This page is for the remaster of Crysis (2007). For the original release of the game, see Crysis.
Crysis Remastered is a singleplayer FPS developed by Crytek and Saber Interactive. It is a remaster of the original Crysis based on the console versions of the game from 2011, rather than the original PC release from 2007.[3] It is also the first release in the series that is not published by Electronic Arts, instead being self-published by Crytek.
The game uses Crytek's CryEngine, a standard for the series, with new features such as hardware ray tracing, higher resolution textures, improved particle effects and global illumination.[4] A future-proof "Can It Run Crysis" graphics preset is also present, making reference to a phrase that became popular around the original 2007 release because of its highly demanding nature on PC hardware at the time.[5]
Crysis Remastered released on September 18, 2020 for Windows exclusively on the Epic Games Store. It was originally set to release on July 23, 2020, but was delayed to allow for further improvement due to negative online feedback following the leak of a gameplay trailer.[6]
As the remaster is based on the console port of Crysis, it lacks some features of the original PC release, such as the level "Ascension" and the entirety of the game's multiplayer.[3][7] A number of control options including leaning and suit shortcuts were missing in the release version[8][9] and were restored in a post-launch update.[10]

Issues unresolved
Display settings reset on launch
- The game may reset the display resolution to the native monitor resolution and the antialiasing settings to SMAA 1TX on launch.[17]
Issues fixed
Low performance with CPU and GPU usage below 100%
- Due to a conflict with Windows 10 v2004, CryEngine games may sometimes run at a low frame rate or cap the frame rate below the monitor refresh rate despite not using all available system resources.[18][19][20]
Change Vsync in the graphics card control panel[18][21]
|
- Add "Crysis Remastered" to the graphics card control panel if the profile does not exist already.
- Change the profile's Vsync setting
- For Nvidia, change the Vsync setting to Fast and apply.
- For AMD, enable Radeon Enhanced Sync and apply.
|
Raytracing affecting performance when disabled
- Raytracing may be still running in the game despite being disabled in the graphics settings.
Workaround by changing settings[22]
|
- Open the advanced graphics settings.
- Set "Shaders Quality" to High and "Raytracing Quality" to Performance and apply.
- Set "Raytracing Quality" to Off and apply.
- Set "Shaders Quality" to Medium or Low and apply.
|
Poor ray tracing performance on RTX GPUs
Enable hardware ray tracing[22]
|
- Create
autoexec.cfg file in the installation folder and open it with a text editor.
- Add lines
con_restricted=0 (if not existing) and ti_UseApiBackedRaytracing=1 .
