DirectX 11[edit]

As of version 2.8.0, experimental support for DirectX 11 is available.[1] This enables improved load times[2] and possible performance gains.
Does not support languages using special characters (i.e. Polish, Russian, Chinese).[3]
Enable DirectX 11
  1. Create a shortcut that targets the main Stellaris executable stellaris.exe.
  2. Open the shortcut's properties and ensure you are on the Shortcut tab.
  3. Append -dx11 to the end of the Target: input field, ensuring a space between stellaris.exe and -dx11.
  4. Start the game using this shortcut.

Notes:

Starting the game in exclusive fullscreen mode using DX11 will result in a broken user interface. Use windowed or borderless fullscreen mode instead.
Adding -dx11 as a launch option in the Steam properties menu of Stellaris will not work. This passes the argument to the launcher (dowser.exe), which is the default executable, not the game executable (stellaris.exe).[4]
GOG Galaxy users can add stellaris.exe with argument -dx11 as a launch option and set it as default.
This will only work on Windows.
