Key points

Steam version requires a physical or virtual optical drive with any disc/image in it to run on Windows 8.1, 10 & 11 (remnants of disc-based DRM).[3] On Windows 7 game launches with no problems.
Problems with launching the game on many systems (black screen with stuttering sound).[4] See Crash at startup to fix.
Graphical inferior to console versions, with missing character reflections and worse lighting.[5]

  1. Download and run Nvidia Profile Inspector.
  2. Search and open the game profile.
  3. Add Pure.exe to the profile.
  4. Set Antialiasing compatibility to 0x004102C1.
  5. Set Antialiasing mode to Override.
  6. Set the desired AA settings (MSAA,TrSSAA).
  7. Apply changes.

Issues fixed

Crash at startup

The game may launch with a black screen and stop responding seconds later.
Force game into windowed mode[citation needed]
  1. Download d3d9hook.
  2. Open the Pure installation folder.
  3. Copy d3d9.dll to that folder.
  4. Start the game normally.

Disc-based DRM fix

The game will prompt you with the following error: "There is no disc in the drive".
Run the pure.exe with Virtual CloneDrive[citation needed]
  1. Download Elby Virtual CloneDrive.
  2. Install the program.
  3. Run the game via pure.exe normally.

Xinput incompatibility

The game only have DirectInput controller support.
Use Xinput to Dinput converter[citation needed]
  1. Follow this guide.
  2. Additionally change the following lines in XinputPlus.ini found in the game install folder.
  3. In the KeyAssign tab, change LT=LT/START=START to LT=START/START=LT.
  4. Start the game with your controller connected.
  5. Go to Control Options and change all the in-game button mapping.
