The first generation of the HORI Fighting Commander are a series of game controller released by Hori since December 11, 1992.

Unlike previous Hori game controllers for Super Famicon/SNES which only has 4 face buttons and 2 shoulder buttons, the Fighting Commander has 6 face buttons by relocating the shoulder buttons to the face. Just like the Super Hori Commander, it has 6 turbo setting slider switches for each face buttons. It is notable to be the first Hori product to carry the Fighting Commander naming which carries over to this day, with the latest being the Fighting Commander OCTA.

In addition to regular black color model and the gold-plated model made for the Super Famicom/SNES, a model made specifically for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16, the Fighting Commander PC, was released on June 12, 1993. The Fighting Commander has a Wii-compatible wireless model in a form of the Wireless Fighting Commander, released on October 5, 2017 to commemorates 50th years of the Hori company.

Due to made specifically for the two aforementioned consoles, all first-generation Fighting Commander models requires a third-party adapter to be able to use on PC (See Adapters), and even then, they will acts as DirectInput devices, requiring the use of a third-party wrapper to play games that only support the XInput API.
