Essential improvements
Alternate Download Link
- This mod removes the film grain which can not be disabled in-game.
- As of 10/20/2020, the RE Modding link appears to be dead. Alternatively, see this Steam Community post.
- Conflicts with the DualShock Button Prompts. Fix here.

Change settings in config.ini[1]
|
- Go to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CAPCOM\RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS2\
- Open
config.ini .
- Change the
Resolution line to the desired resolution (e.g. Resolution=1680x1050).
- Change the
Aspect line to the desired aspect ratio (e.g. Aspect=16:10). For 21:9 use Aspect=default .
Notes
- The aim cursor does not currently work in 21:9 Ultrawide resolution as the shot always occurs 5cm (about 2 inches) to the right as of 4/4/2017 - Patch version 4.10. The only known workaround at this time is to play with Reticule Design switched to Laser. This results in menus and UI being aligned to the left side of the screen, but the red dot sight will show up center screen where you are aiming.

Input
Modify config file[citation needed]
|
- Go to the configuration file location.
- Open
Config.ini .
- Find the
[JOYPAD] section
- Edit the button numbers as desired.
- Example for DualShock 4:
[JOYPAD]
ProductName=Wireless Controller
A=1
B=2
X=0
Y=3
LEFT=POV
RIGHT=POV
UP=POV
DOWN=POV
START=9

RT=5
RB=7
LSTICK_PUSH=10
LSTICK_VERT=Y
LSTICK_HORZ=X
RSTICK_PUSH=11
RSTICK_VERT=RZ
RSTICK_HORZ=Z
Notes
- Controller button numbers can be found by opening Set up USB game controllers (accessed by ⊞ Win+R and
joy.cpl ), clicking properties, and then switching to the Test tab. Actual button number is -1 from shown, e.g. if button 1 lights up, it's button 0.
|
- This mod adds PlayStation buttons.
- Conflicts with the Film grain removal mod. Fix is in the forum post.

Character can't move on last boss battle.
After the video before the last boss, the character may stop responding to the control buttons
Need to put 720p, 30 fps, windowed mode, and 75 hertz. After that, press restart checkpoint and enter the door. After the character has can moving, you can return the graphic settings back.}}
Unusually high CPU usage
Underclock processor speed[citation needed]
|
- Access Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Settings
- On you current power plan (or any other if you want) click "Change plan settings"
- Click "Change advanced power settings", a window will pop in
- Scroll down to "Processor energy management" and then open it
- Then you'll want to change "Minimum processor state" and "Maximum processor state" to 0% (this will limit your processor clock rate without causing any performance drops to the game)
- Click apply and then exit.
Notes
- After you exit the game do not forget to change "Maximum processor state" back to 100%.
- This fix won't lower the performance of the game if the clock rate is not too low.
- This can be also done with processor management software
|
Poor performance or slowdowns
- The mod below used for RE HD Remaster may help improve performance and fix stuttering. Especially at high resolutions
- There is another mod (not compatible with the one above) that disables certain rendering features to improve performance on less-capable systems.
Apply Performance Boost mod[4]
|
- Download the mod from the linked thread.
- Copy
d3d9.dll and varshare.dll to the installation folder.
|
Title screen with Biohazard text and audio
- Despite the name "Biohazard" being intended only for Japan, several copies of this game have Biohazard text and announcer voice on the start screen. This mod substitutes relevant textures and audio files to fix this, for those who prefer the international name.
Apply title screen fix[5]
|
- Download the mod from the linked thread.
- Make a backup of the relevant game files if you wish
- Overwrite the original title screen texture and audio files with the ones from the mod
