Offline Mode

Playing games like Grand Theft Auto IV in Offline Mode requires to launch the game from Rockstar's Launcher, even when the game has been bought on Steam[1].

Some games like Red Dead Redemption 2 don't work in Offline Mode as of January 2023.[2]
Prepare Rockstar Games Launcher for offline mode[3]
  1. Open Rockstar Games Launcher while being connected to the internet.
  2. When logging in, tick the Remember my password checkbox.
  3. Run downloaded games at least once to ensure they're properly configured for offline mode.
    1. Launch the small overlay by pressing either the Home ⇱ key or the corresponding button combination on a controller.
    2. Click on the gear-looking icon (⚙).
    3. Click on "Settings"
    4. Select the "Profile" tab.
    5. Switch "Auto Sign-in" to Enabled.
    6. Close the menu and the game.
  4. Fully close the Rockstar Games Launcher
  5. Disconnect your computer from Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
  6. Relaunch the Rockstar Games Launcher and verify that it can sign into offline mode, and that downloaded games are accessible as well.
  7. Once the game session is over, player might have to immediately log-in again, even while offline. It is recommended to do so in order to avoid authentication issues while being offline.

Update your GPU drivers[4]

Social-Club-Setup.exe stuck in a loop

Disable Force randomisation for images (Mandatory ASLR) for Social-Club-Setup.exe[citation needed]

If the Rockstar Games Launcher gets stuck in a loop when trying to execute 'Social-Club-Setup.exe' and you have "Force randomisation for images (Mandatory ASLR)" enabled system-wide in Windows Security (under 'Exploit protection') for security reasons: You need to add an override in "Program Settings" for 'Social-Club-Setup.exe' and set it to 'off'.
