Alternate installer

Allows the game to be installed on 64-bit systems.

Unofficial patch

Adds compatibility for modern Windows, mod support and team chat in multiplayer.
For digital releases, use the pre-patched executable.
For the original CD release, use the pre-patched executable or the original Unofficial Patch, which requires the original, installed-from-CD executable.[5] Original CDs for both Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith are required to run the game.

Instructions

Higher quality music

Replaces music files with higher quality, digitally restored tracks ripped from the original CD.[6]

Instructions
Works with any release in conjunction with the music wrapper.

Higher quality sound effects

The game uses the low quality versions of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II's sound effects. This replaces them with the high quality versions.

Instructions

Higher quality graphics

Before and after the High Detail Mod.
Before and after the High Detail Mod.

The game uses lower quality textures and models the further away they are, resulting in unsightly transitions. This is eliminated by making the game always use the highest quality ones.

Instructions
Doesn't add or replace any of the game's textures or models.
Can be used alone or in conjunction with other texture/model mods.

Issues fixed

Game won't start

Instructions
Instructions

3D acceleration issues

Running the game with 3D acceleration turned on may cause crashes or graphics problems (ex. black screens) on some modern machines.

Instructions
Instructions

Can't start a new game on AMD GPUs

This issue is present in the original CD release and may also apply to releases patched with the Unofficial Patch.

Instructions
Instructions

Game runs in a window even when set to fullscreen (Steam)

The Steam launcher forces the -windowGUI command line argument to preemptively solve a black screen problem experienced on some systems.[1]

Instructions

Black screen during menu

Instructions

Seemingly low framerate or stuttering

The game updates camera movement at only 30fps, even though the game runs at 60fps. This gives the appearance of poor performance and can be improved by capping the framerate below 48.

Instructions

HUD is missing or screen has black border

Instructions

Music issues

Music doesn't play or loop or the volume can't be adjusted.

Instructions

Mysteries of the Sith Retexture Pack

This mod replaces textures with higher quality versions and can be used alone or with Jedi Knight Enhanced. It requires the Unofficial Patch to be installed.

Instructions

JK HUD Revamp

The original HUD is too small at high resolutions. This mod replaces the default GUI and HUD elements with larger, higher resolution alternatives.

Instructions
jkhud.zip affects the health and ammo readouts and jkgui.zip the force power and item icons.
The larger elements are very different from (and not faithful to) the original designs.
