Friday the 13th: The Game is a multiplayer survival horror game developed by IllFonic and published by Gun Media. It was based on the Friday the 13th films.
Friday the 13th: The Game was released on May 26, 2017. The game had received numerous new contents with several updates, but development of new content was permanently cancelled due of a cessation of rights caused by a lawsuit between Victor Miller and Sean Cunningham over the rights of the Friday the 13th films.[1] It was later announced in September that Black Tower Studios took over from IllFonic as a developer and worked on development for any future balancing and bugfixing patches.[2] In 2020, dedicated servers for the game was shut down and peer-to-peer is used for online gameplay following a game update. [3]
Due to Gun Media's license for Friday the 13th expiring, the game is scheduled to be delisted on December 31, 2023 and shut down a year later.[4]
