Widescreen resolution

The game natively supports only 4:3 resolutions. It's possible to get the game running in widescreen mode by editing bytes directly in exe file.
Modify and use UniWS[2]
  1. Launch the game and let it test the display.
  2. Quit the game.
  3. Download and extract UniWS.
  4. Edit patches.ini.
  5. Replace its content with:

  6. Save changes and run uniws.exe.
  7. Go to the installation folder or use the Find it for me... button.
  8. Type in your desired resolution and click Patch.
  9. Launch the game and choose 1024x768 resolution.

Notes

This hack works with both base game as well as expansion pack.

Menus, FMVs and most of HUD elements are stretched.
Only 2 out of 3 messages fit the chat space after applying the hack.
Does not work with the Steam version of the game (replacing dfbhd.exe with the GOG version solves this problem).

Can not recover password/account details (bug: emails not being sent)

In 2008, Novalogic updated their website. This caused few minor glitches on DFBHD websites that in-game browser is using.

Use Novaworld Community Beta website[citation needed]
  1. Go to the lost password form.
  2. Enter the email address of the Novaworld account.

Issues unresolved

Anti-aliasing option is disabled

On some configurations, option for full screen anti-aliasing is disabled. There is no known fix for it. Only alternative is forcing different AA settings from graphics card control panel.
