===OutRun 2 FXT===
+
===[https://github.com/emoose/Outrun2006Tweaks/releases Outrun2006Tweaks]===
{{ii}} Replacement configuration tool that adds XInput rumble support, custom resolutions, windowed mode, additional camera views and more. Can be downloaded [http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=147131.0 here].
+
{{mm}} A mod with enhancements & fixes for most of the issues in this article.
{{ii}} Running {{file|FXTConfig.exe}} as admin for is required for first time use to apply its settings. Launch the game using {{file|OR2FXT.exe}} instead of its stock executable to ensure the modifications stick.
+
{{++}} Restores online multiplayer functionality.
{{ii}} Before attempting to install texture replacement mods with OutRun FXT, make sure the <code>{{p|game}}\FXTcfg\texpacks\original</code> folder is empty and your game's files are not flagged as read-only to avoid errors.
+
* The UI can now scale to different aspect ratios without stretching.
 +
* The game can now be run in borderless windowed mode.
 +
* Adds a built-in framelimiter and the frame rate can now be partially unlocked.
 +
* Load times are heavily reduced by disabling framelimiter/vsync during load screens.
 +
* Fixes C2C scoreboards not updating on Steam and other releases due to faulty anti-piracy checks.
 +
* Reduces z-fighting & object pop-in.
 +
* Restores XInput rumble code from the Xbox release.
 +

# Install [[#Outrun2006Tweaks|Outrun2006Tweaks]]

# Ensure "FramerateUnlockExperimental" is set to "true."
 +
# "FramerateLimitMode" is set to "0" by default. If this causes issues, try setting it to "1."
 +
{{ii}} This partial framerate unlock allows the game to render out at higher framerates, though it will still largely run at 60 fps internally. This won't provide as much of a benefit as a true framerate unlock since frames will be repeated, but it can help reduce load times and improves some effects like the reflection update rate (which updates at half the game's frame rate and so benefits from framerates higher than 60 fps).

Essential improvements

Outrun2006Tweaks

A mod with enhancements & fixes for most of the issues in this article.
Restores online multiplayer functionality.
  • The UI can now scale to different aspect ratios without stretching.
  • The game can now be run in borderless windowed mode.
  • Adds a built-in framelimiter and the frame rate can now be partially unlocked.
  • Load times are heavily reduced by disabling framelimiter/vsync during load screens.
  • Fixes C2C scoreboards not updating on Steam and other releases due to faulty anti-piracy checks.
  • Reduces z-fighting & object pop-in.
  • Restores XInput rumble code from the Xbox release.
  • Fixes the lens flare effect and others that were originally broken in this port.
  • Support for custom music and textures, including HD textures.
  • Many other bug fixes and features.

Fix broken audio track

The track "Rush a Difficulty" in the PC port is missing the first 2 seconds.
This fix does not address the rest of the games audio issues and so is less comprehensive then the Perfect Music Mod, but does not require Outrun2006Tweaks.
Instructions[1]
  1. Download the SoundtrackFix package.
  2. Extract contents of the archive to <path-to-game>.
  3. Run SoundtrackFix.bat.

Restore missing lens flare & bloom effects

A simple oversight with the PC conversion caused the lens flare and bloom effects from the console versions to go missing.
Fixed with Outrun2006Tweaks automatically.
Instructions[2]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Media\.
  2. Look for lens_flare_offset.bin and copy it.
  3. Paste it into <path-to-game>\Common\.

Widescreen resolution

Set custom resolution manually[3]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\outrun2006.ini.
  2. Change DX/RES/WIDTH and DX/RES/HEIGHT to the desired resolution.

Notes

To run the game in a resolution wider than 3840, the anti-aliasing quality level has to be 6 or lower.

Windowed

Enable windowed[4]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\outrun2006.ini.
  2. Add DX/WINDOWED = 1. Change this value to 0 for fullscreen.

Partially unlock framerate

Partial framerate unlock with Outrun2006Tweaks[5]
  1. Install Outrun2006Tweaks
  2. In <path-to-game>\OutRun2006Tweaks.ini, set "FramerateLimit" to desired framerate or "0" to use an external frame limiter.
  3. Ensure "FramerateUnlockExperimental" is set to "true."
  4. "FramerateLimitMode" is set to "0" by default. If this causes issues, try setting it to "1."
This partial framerate unlock allows the game to render out at higher framerates, though it will still largely run at 60 fps internally. This won't provide as much of a benefit as a true framerate unlock since frames will be repeated, but it can help reduce load times and improves some effects like the reflection update rate (which updates at half the game's frame rate and so benefits from framerates higher than 60 fps).

Texture Pack: Console Button Prompts and Correct Sprites for Clarissa and Holly

Corrects the sprites for both Clarissa and Holly to use arcade textures rather than the unfinished versions used in the Coast 2 Coast port.
This method provides options for Xbox, PlayStation or PC button prompts.
This also gives you the option to use Clarissa's more revealing outfit from the Japanese version.
Install texture mods with Outrun2006Tweaks[6]
  1. Install Outrun2006Tweaks
  2. In <path-to-game>, create folders such that the path is textures/load.
  3. Download the textures from here.
  4. Unpack contents of the archive to load.
  5. If using Clarissa's Japanese appearance, in <path-to-game>\OutRun2006Tweaks.ini, set "RestoreJPClarissa" to "true."

Lossless, Higher Quality, Looping Music

A more comprehensive fix to the game's music than the SoundtrackFix package.
Requires at least v0.5 of OutRun2006Tweaks with AllowFLAC enabled.
Replaces the original ogg files with lossless, looping flac versions sourced from official soundtracks. Also replaces the title screen audio, fixes panning/mixing issues, restores the first two seconds of "Rush A Difficulty" and makes track selection samples loop seamlessly.
Instructions
  1. Install Outrun2006Tweaks
  2. In <path-to-game>\OutRun2006Tweaks.ini, set "AllowFLAC" to "true."
  3. Download the Perfect Music Mod.
  4. Extract contents of the archive's files folder to <path-to-game>.
