In the game's options menu, set the Scene Resolution settings to MediumCite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag

Go to %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc.
Open hosts with a text editor running as administrator.
Add the following lines at the bottom:

127.0.0.1 launcher01.kalypsomedia.com
