Essential improvements[edit]

Patches[edit]

Patch 1.1 is available here. Only necessary for users with Intel Pentium processors who have problems running the game.

Map fix[edit]

The world map is incorrectly displayed on modern video cards. Install this fix by copying the patch .exe to the game directory and executing it there.

Windows display scaling[edit]

The game can be distorted on high-resolution monitors where the default Windows display scaling is different from 100%.

Change scaling settings

Right-click on the DragonRiders.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> "Change high DPI settings" -> set to "Application".

Alternatively, you can just set display scaling to 100% in Windows before starting the game (right-click on desktop -> display settings).

Tips for controls
Switch between multiple possible actions with Numpad 0 (or Numpad Insert).
Activate stealth mode

To start sneaking, hold the action key (Space ) when the stealth symbol appears on screen, and then move. If you're in a location where the default movement speed is running, you must additionally hold down Shift to switch to walking/sneaking.

Melee combat
  1. You have to continously hold Space to keep in combat mode.
  2. While holding Space can you use combat moves ( and for dodging, for blocking, press for light attack and hold and release for heavy attack).
  3. If you're not close enough to hit an enemy, exit combat mode, then run up closer and activate it again.
You have to highlight your preferred weapon in the inventory (I) with Space before starting combat. Otherwise, you will only use your weakest weapon (fists). This selection might get lost on changing levels, so regularly check it before fighting.
