GOG.com | Gold edition While Gallean's Return installers are tagged as 2.01, they actually include the 2.02 patch.[1] However, while Rise of the Elves is marked as 3.01, the in-game menu reports 3.0 (as it is partially patched[2]) and is missing the Rise of the Elves Gold content. |

Steam | Gallean's Return. Rise of the Elves Gold also available (missing the 3.01 patch).
ZOOM Platform | Gold edition; all content is contained in the same installer. Currently the only distribution to contain both the full 3.01 patch and the Rise of the Elves Gold content.
GamersGate (unavailable) | Disciples II: Dark Prophecy |
- A free demo version of Dark Prophecy is available from Archive.org.
Version differences
- The Gold edition contains the base game (Dark Prophecy) and all three expansions (Guardians of The Light, Servants of The Dark and Rise of The Elves) plus five new bonus quests.
- Gallean's Return is a compilation of the base game and two expansions (Guardians of the Light and Servants of the Dark).
- Rise of the Elves Gold is a compilation of the base game, Rise of the Elves and an additional 4-mission campaign unique to that version, released months after the retail version of Gold. An upgrade was released by the developers[3].
- GOG.com users may need to use a tool like UniExtract to unpack the files from the Gold upgrade installer, as it will not recognize the installation. This will also result in the main menu properly reporting the game version as 3.01.
- Map editors for Steam versions provide as separate AppID - 1645 and 1635, with same depots
