FromSoftware is a Japanese video game development and publishing company, and is primary owned by Kadokawa Corporation, with Sixjoy Hong Kong (a subsdiary company of Tencent) and Sony Interactive Entertainment owning the minority stakes of the company.

The company was founded on November 1, 1986, but had only start developing video games in 1994 with the release of King's Field on PlayStation. FromSoftware later start developing and publishing games on PC in 2000, with the release of Sword of Moonlight: King’s Field Making Tool.

FromSoftware was once a subsidiary company of transcosmos inc. from 2010 to 2013, before being purchased and became Kadokawa Corporation's subsidiary in 2014. In August 2022, Sixjoy Hong Kong and Sony Interactive Entertainment had respectively acquired the minority stakes of FromSoftware.

While FormSoftware self-publish their games in Japan, the company has to rely on third-party companies like Activision and Bandai Namco Entertainment to publish their games internationally.
