This is an Unreal Engine 3 leftover feature, therefore the game was not optimized for this. Expect weird HUD display.
Ammo count will only be displayed for player 1 when playing with two other people. Player 2 can see his own counter when playing with three others. Both of these counters are offset to the bottom screen.
It is possible to play online with local players but they will be assigned generic names.
Connect local players using the console[1]
  1. Launch a solo or online game.
  2. Bring up the console (~ by default).
  3. Enter DebugCreatePlayer [controllerID] where "controllerID" is an ID number assigned to a peripheral.
  4. Repeat previous step to add more players.
Enter DebugRemovePlayer [controllerID] to remove players.
