- The GOG.com version has been patched for compatibility and includes working music.[4]
Essential improvements
In-game gameplay settings.
- Allows the game to be installed on 64-bit systems.
- Adds compatibility for modern Windows, mod support and team chat in multiplayer.
- For digital releases, use the pre-patched executable.

Issues fixed
Game won't start
Can't start a new game on AMD GPUs
- This issue is present in the original CD release. It also applies to any other release patched with the Unofficial Patch.
3D acceleration problems
Running the game with 3D acceleration turned on may cause crashes or graphics problems (ex. black screens) on some modern machines. If you experience problems, try the following steps:
Game runs in a window even when game is set to fullscreen (Steam)
HUD does not appear or screen has black border
Missing music (with GOG release in Windows 10)
- The GOG release of the game installs compatibility settings that may cause music to be missing on Windows 10.
Missing music (Steam)
Wrong or missing music (with CD)
Music does not loop
This is a known issue on some Windows Vista and 7 machines
- This was originally a Quake music fix, but should also work with JK.
- Further explanations are available on gemot encubed.
Low quality sound effects
- The game uses low quality versions of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II's sound effects.
Can't adjust music volume

Secret level
Texture/model enhancements
Mysteries of the Sith Enhanced
- This replaces many models and textures with more detailed ones. Requires the Unofficial Patch.
Mysteries of the Sith Retexture Pack
- This is a texture enhancement pack which can be used alone or in conjunction with Mysteries of the Sith Enhanced. It requires the unofficial patch to be installed.
MOTSE LOD Mod
- This prevents NPCs and textures from being scaled down in quality as you move away, which is very noticeable at higher resolutions. This is recommended regardless of whether you're using the graphics mods above.
- Requires starting a new game, since it replaces all level files, which prevents old save games from loading.
JK HUD Revamp
- Jedi Knight's normal HUD is too small at high resolutions. The HUD revamp mod replaces the default GUI and HUD elements with larger, higher resolution alternatives.
-
jkhud.zip
affects the health and ammo readouts and jkgui.zip
the force power and item icons.
- The larger elements are very different from (and not faithful to) the original designs.
