Widescreen fix^[1]

Download the widescreen patch by a link.
Select the patch on 64:27, 16:9 or 16:10 and click it when it extracts the file.
The files will be replaced, but a folder will be backed up.

Problems

If ProRally.exe can't open because of editing .exe file couldn't verify. alternative download link.

Unfortunately, a file DX7.ed3 is not working because it's required. It may get a error code by 0xc0000020, there's no fix for it yet.

Alternative Solution:

Open command prompt in adminstrator and type sfc /scannow, this may take long time until it completes verifying, you can minimize the command prompt until it uses desktop.
If that solves using system restore, this doesn't make sense.

Play the game on modern systems:

Download and install nGlide.
Run nGlide Configurator from the start menu.
Select your screen resolution. Change Aspect ratio to Entire screen if you want to play in widescreen, and click Apply.
Run <path-to-game>\RallySetup.exe.
Change Renderer to Voodoo5 (tm) with Glide 3.0 and click OK.
Run ProRally.exe as an admin and a compatibility to Windows XP.

The language of the game can be changed in Options
The game doesn't work with almost all models of gamepads, there's no fix for it yet.
If the game doesn't work even with the fix - on Windows 8+, DirectPlay must be installed for game to launch (Control Panel->Programs and Features->Turn Windows features on or off->Legacy Components->DirectPlay)
Use nGlide configurator to change resolution, aspect ratio, refresh rate, etc. By default the game engine supports only 4:3 resolutions (up to 1600x1200), if you want to play in higher resolutions - select new resolution in nGlide configurator (Start->All Programs->nGlide->nGlide Configurator). If you're using widescreen display and the game runs in stretched mode - change aspect ratio through nGlide configurator.
