Issues resolved
Game crashes while playing Mission 42, preventing any further progress (Access violation)
- The game has a major bug where once you reach Mission 42 and attempt to get out of the castle, the game will crash, to resolve this, download the zip file here or here then follow the steps:
- Method 1 (This method is suitable for people who wants to use their own save)
- Open the .exe file inside the method1 folder, what this does is install an old trial version of After the End which should allow you to play Mission 42, but the level itself will either have a black screen or it could show some but the level itself is still broken, the .dll included within the folder is a dgVoodoo D3D8 wrapper, it could help make the level itself look better for personal preferences, otherwise, install the old version of After the End on any possible location
- Once the installation is done, open the folder of the old After the End and delete the existing "Campaign.cdf" if there is, when there is none, go to the folder of your own copy of After the End, copy your own save which is named "Campaign.cdf" and paste it to the folder of the old After the End
- After pasting your Mission 42 save on the folder of the old After the End, open the game and play the mission, the mission itself is fairly straightforward, there isn't too much obstacles so even if the mission shows up with black textures or black screen, it should still be easy enough to finish.
- When the mission is completed and you are now on Mission 43, you can go ahead and copy your save from the old After the End back to your current copy, then you can delete the old After the End now.
- Method 2 (This method is far easier to do, and suitable for people who don't mind having a new save)
- Open the method2 folder, you can see the .cdf file inside which is a save that is already in Mission 43, all you just have to do is to rename it, remove the (Mission43) in its name so the file will now be named as "Campaign.cdf", then simply copy or cut the file, then paste it to the folder of your current After the End copy, you could either overwrite your current save or take it out first before putting the new save.
