Version differences
- The retail version requires Star Wars: Jedi Knight – Dark Forces II; digital distribution versions are standalone.[2][3]
- The GOG.com version has been patched for compatibility and includes working music.[4]
Essential improvements
In-game gameplay settings.
- Allows the game to be installed on 64-bit systems.
- Adds compatibility for modern Windows, mod support and team chat in multiplayer.
- For digital releases, use the pre-patched executable.
- For the original CD release, use the pre-patched executable or the original Unofficial Patch, which requires the original, installed-from-CD executable.[5] Original CDs for both Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith are required to run the game.
Skip intro videos
Replaces music files with higher quality, digitally restored tracks ripped from the original CD.[6]
- Works with any release in conjunction with the music wrapper.

Issues fixed
Game won't start
3D acceleration issues
Running the game with 3D acceleration turned on may cause crashes or graphics problems (ex. black screens) on some modern machines.
Can't start a new game on AMD GPUs
This issue is present in the original CD release and may also apply to releases patched with the Unofficial Patch.
Game runs in a window even when set to fullscreen (Steam)
Seemingly low framerate or stuttering
The game updates camera movement at only 30fps, even though the game runs at 60fps. This gives the appearance of poor performance and can be improved by capping the framerate below 48.
HUD is missing or screen has black border
Music issues
Music doesn't play (after exiting the bar) or doesn't loop or the volume can't be adjusted.
Low quality sound effects
The game uses low quality versions of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II's sound effects.

Secret level
Texture/model enhancements
Mysteries of the Sith Enhanced
- This replaces many models and textures with more detailed ones. Requires the Unofficial Patch.
Mysteries of the Sith Retexture Pack
- This is a texture enhancement pack which can be used alone or in conjunction with Mysteries of the Sith Enhanced. It requires the unofficial patch to be installed.
MOTSE LOD Mod
- This prevents NPCs and textures from being scaled down in quality as you move away, which is very noticeable at higher resolutions. This is recommended regardless of whether you're using the graphics mods above.
- Requires starting a new game, since it replaces all level files, which prevents old save games from loading.
JK HUD Revamp
- Jedi Knight's normal HUD is too small at high resolutions. The HUD revamp mod replaces the default GUI and HUD elements with larger, higher resolution alternatives.
-
jkhud.zip
affects the health and ammo readouts and jkgui.zip
the force power and item icons.
- The larger elements are very different from (and not faithful to) the original designs.
