Patches
- Retail Patch (patch 112100) - this patch won't work with minimal installation of the game.[1]
Verifying version of the game[citation needed]

- To confirm if you need to install the patch open the Help file installed with The Fallen.
- Go to Start Menu/Programs/Deep Space Nine-The Fallen/Help
- The very last line shows the current build.
- If the build is "Build110800-d-US" or "Build110800-d-EU-sr" then you need to install the patch.
|
- It is recommended to install this patch after updating a game to version 112100 / retail patch.
- A fork of Kentie's Direct3D 10 renderer that adds more graphical features.
- Run games at HD resolution.
- Improved lighting.
- Adds ambient occlusion, screen-space reflections and higher quality HDR post-processing.
- Places a temporary watermark in the bottom right, and copies the developers PayPal link to your clipboard. Follow these instructions to disable the watermark and remove the PayPal link from being inserted into your clipboard.

- Open the developer console with ~/Tab ↹.
- Use the
preferences command to open the Advanced Options window
- In a new window open Rendering section.
- Open Direct3D 11 support section.
- Set SupportMETextEnabled to
False .

- If the game crashes while attempting to access the Advanced Options, open
<game>.ini (see configuration file(s) location) with text editor and modify SupportMETextEnabled in [D3D11Drv.D3D11RenderDevice] section, instead.

Remove low-poly shadows cast on characters models
|
- By default the DX11 renderer enables ASSAO, which causes some ugly shadows to appear on character models.
- Open the developer console with ~/Tab ↹.
- Use the
preferences command to open the Advanced Options window
- Navigate to Rendering → Direct3D 11 support
- Set ASSAO to
False
- Close the Advanced Options window for the change to take effect

Demo Levels
Fusion Creative Design created 3 special levels for a demo version of the game. These levels were later on released as a free addon for the full game and can be downloaded here (Convergence for Windows V1.1).

- In-game options are limited to buttons remapping only. Below are instructions how to remap axis.
Use preferences command[citation needed]

- Open a console by pressing ~.
- Type in:
preferences .
- Go to Advanced / Raw Key Bindings.
- Scroll down until you see: JoyR - this is first of the axis. JoyZ is the last.
- Edit settings by clicking into a box right of the Axis name.

Issues fixed
Freeze when loading data from CD
For some reason, even if a full version of a game is installed, some data are still being loaded from CD. This may result in a freeze when using physical compact disk, due to game waiting for a disk drive to spin the disk and load a data from it.
Fixing freezing using Windows registry[citation needed]

- Install a Full version of a game.
- Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\The Collective Studios inc.\Deep Space Nine The Fallen\ds9thefallen
- Right click on
installpath and click modify.
- Copy the data from it (it's going to be a path to a folder, where you've installed a game).
- Right click on
CdPath and click modify.
- Replace its data with data you've copied from
installpath .

- Run a game using an image in virtual CD drive.

Camera keeps spinning, when a Joystick is enabled

- Lower both ScaleRUV and Scale XYZ values.

MSI Afterburner issues

Depending on the setting, the overlay may not be shown, or the game may crash upon pressing the overlay button.
- After launching MSI Afterburner, open the RivaTunerStatisticsServer from the system tray.
- Add ds9.exe from <path-to-game>\system\ to the settings.
- Set "Application detection level" to "high" and Stealth mode to "ON".
