Issues resolved

Music stops playing and game crashes

Set processor core count to 1^[1]

On Windows desktop click Start and in the search bar type msconfig.
Click on the Boot tab and click Advanced options...
Check Number of processors and in the drop down menu select 1.
Click OK and restart your computer for changes to take effect.

Notes

After you stop playing the game, uncheck Number of processors and restart your computer to revert back to original settings.
