Widescreen resolution

Edit executable^[1]

Open the binary found in the installation folder with a hex editor.
Search for the Hex value 38 30 30 20 78 20 36 30 30 (800 x 600).
- As of 2014.08.29, on the 32-bit Linux version, this is found at 0x2C5F9B
Replace it with your desired resolution, padding with null bytes (00) at the end if required. Spaces (20) between the numbers and "x" are not required.

Notes

Only confirmed to work on Linux.

When using Steam, the executable might be overwritten, and you may have to repeat these steps after each update.

Windowed

Open the binary found in the installation folder with a hex editor.
Search for the Hex value 59 65 73 (Yes).
- As of 2014.08.29 on the 32-bit Linux version, this is found at 0x2C5FC8
Replace it with 4E 6F 00 (No ).

Vertical sync (Vsync)

Go to the configuration file(s) location. Open `ogre.cfg`. Change the line `VSync=No` to `VSync=Yes` (case sensitive).

Go to the configuration files location. Open `config.xml` with a text editor like Notepad (Windows). Change the numeric value of the line `<fpscap>100</fpscap>` to your desired frame rate and save the changes.

Issues fixed

Laggy mouse movement

Enable raw input mode^[4]

Go to the configuration files location.
Open config.xml with a text editor like Notepad (Windows).
Add the line <hwcursor>true</hwcursor> above the </config> closing tag and save the changes.

Notes

This will also reduce the size of the in-game mouse cursor.

Game does not start or crashes at loading screen

This mainly affects the Windows version and can have multiple reasons.

Common Solutions^[5]
Make sure SLI/Crossfire is completely disabled. Install DirectX, OpenAL and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages from the `<path-to-game>\thirdparty\` folder. Start the game directly with the `bout.exe` from the `<path-to-game>` folder. Delete all files inside the configuration files location except the `Savegame` folder.

Disable unused playback devices (Windows)^[4]
Right click the Windows Volume Mixer icon in the taskbar. Select Playback devices. Right click and Disable every device that is not your main output (e.g. speakers, headset).
